PSALM 139

You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.  You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Saying Goodbyes

„Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! For there the LORD commanded the blessing and life forever.“ Psalm 133

When you live in a church that has 300 members, it is very difficult to sum up just in a few sentences all the richness, fullness and diversity you can experience there. The longer you live with these people, the better you know them, the more they have become a part of you. It´s like a good cuisine – everything is mixed there. All the personality types, different generations, job positions and different life stories. I am going to move to Zilina in a few days. Here, at home, I leave behind extraordinary people and precious environment. During the goodbye party (Thank you very much for it!), I realized that I have the tendency to praise you for how gifted we are, for the gifts we have and how we enjoy being together. Encouragement is useful and good, but we are not here to do just that. We are here because God has blessed us and gave us life forever. When I saw dozens of people at the party, I saw God, and dozens of His faces. There are pieces of Him in every one of these, for me very close, people. I was a part of colorful, big and beautiful church of Cirkev bratska in Levice … because God decided so.
To Him belongs my thankfulnes and appreciation for all this beauty, pleasant memories, as well as for trials and lessons.
When I look back, I see grace because He gave blessings to me and to my church. When I look into the future, I have the hope of life because He has promised so to my church and to the whole world.
Speaking about the present, I can do only one thing – to hang my life on His grace. I don´t think a psalmist was an exaggerated optimist when he wrote this psalm. He could just have a real picture how it looks like when brothers dwell together. Life in a church can sometimes be wild, sometimes difficult, but it is beautiful. And it is so only because God gives us life and blessing.
Thank you, Cirkev bratska in Levice, thank You, my God.
